Introduction
Alarm conditions represent reductions in operating efficiency, quality and safety, and yet alarms are often considered a nuisance! Why is this? Simply put, few people have the time or patience to deal with the thousands of alarms and events recorded to line printers and text displays each day. As a result, key performance information that details the time, frequency and duration of equipment faults, process swings and other abnormal conditions are lost and with it, opportunities for increased plant throughput and safety. Studies show that abnormal conditions will cost a plant up to 8% throughput per year* and yet few plants effectively utilize alarm data to maximize productivity and safety.
AlarmAnalyst® is unrivaled in it's ability to identify safety issues, maintenance problems and inefficiencies in your plant. The advanced analysis and reporting capabilities translates thousands of alarms, operator actions and system events into key plant diagnostics. Non-technical users interact in a simple graphical environment eliminating the need to deal with messy spreadsheets and hard to use software. Conditions effecting plant productivity and safety are instantly exposed and quantified. Continuous on-line monitoring is the only way to insure your personnel have the information they need to spot problems early and ensure that the plant is being run efficiently.
AlarmAnalyst® easily integrates into all alarm management and continuous improvement strategies including Six Sigma and Condition Based Maintenance (CRM) programs. The intuitive displays and drag and drop report formats make it exceptionally simple for any personnel to use and understand. The advanced monitoring and analysis capabilities shifts focus from simply acknowledging alarms to the understanding and reduction of the conditions causing them.

Alarm Management and Plant Monitoring - User Features
- Alarm Management: Embedded world standard metrics makes it easy to benchmark your plant. (Based on the Engineering Equipment Material Users Association, EEMUA recommended best practices in Alarm Management and emerging standards such as ISA-SP18)
- Interactive Graphical Displays including: Sequence of Events, Pattern Analysis, Burst Rates, Alarm and Event Distributions, Standing Time, Pareto , Hourly Rates, Time lines, Severity Analysis, Best fit, Top 10, Total time in alarm. Alarm and event data is graphically integrated into Process Trend displays.
- Operator Entered Notes: User can document changes, equipment problems and enter other plant information. Notes are visually integrated into all displays and reports
- Password protected operator environment. 21CFR Part11 compatible.
- Customizable "User Views" that organize data into production areas, priorities, and equipment types.
- Point and Click: Mouse functions include pan, zoom, "rubber band" and searching. "Hover over" call outs and tool tips through out
- Plant Monitoring: Translates thousands of alarms and events (i.e. operator actions, system events etc.) into key plant diagnostic and performance metrics.
- Automatic report generation, customizable reports and an editable print preview.
- Virtually no maintenance or configuration required.
Benefits
- Identifies and quantifies problems that otherwise go undetected
- Provides on-line benchmarking of your facility against world standard best practices.
- Replaces printers, shortens start-ups, change-overs and problem investigations.
- Establishes a base line with quantified goals for improvement.
- Drives maintenance with exact measurements on when, where and what equipment needs attention.
- Exposes emerging equipment problems, process issues and lets users "see through the noise" during alarm bursts and plant upsets.
- Drastically reduces the time and frustration of dealing with alarms, operator actions and other textual events.
- Identifies redundant and nuisance alarms, operator swamping and other alarm system problems that reduce operator efficency.
- Manages years of data on-line.
- Provides pro-active real-time plant monitoring that ensures operations are being run safely and efficiently.
